Testing:

The club holds tests at the end of each semester for team membership and belt advancement.

Belt Test: (for color belts who wish to be promoted)

To qualify for belt test, members must attend at least 2 classes per week. Students should also read and memorize all student documents. Those who wish to test will also need to submit an essay.

For invited students who are unable to test at the end of this semester, there will be a make-up test at the beginning of the next semester.

Team Test:

To qualify for team test, members must:
1. attend at least 3 classes per week (Saturday practice is mandatory), and
2. compete or coach at the tournaments this semester.

Keep in mind that being on the team is a privilege and honor. You are the core of the club and uphold its reputation. Only team members are allowed to purchase team jackets and participate in demos and other official events.

Dues:

Club Fees for the Spring 2008 semester are as follows:

Colored Belts: $100 Black Belts: $75

These fees include all of the lessons for the semester, sparring gear, plus an end of the semester banquet. Remember, since this is a student run organization, none of the instructors are paid -- all of the fees go directly back to the members.

Trial Period:

At the beginning of each semester there is a one week trial period where interested students may come and practice free of charge.

Equipment:

Uniforms: Although it is not required for white belts, we urge all members who wish to continue beyond a white belt to purchase a uniform; yellow belts and higher are required to have one. If you need a uniform, ordering through the club will gain you a group discount through our supplier. Any new uniform should come with a white belt, although a colored belt can be ordered for an extra fee.

Sparring Equipment: None of the following are needed if you will not be sparring during the school year. All team members are required to own shin/instep guards, forearm guards, and head gear (and for men, groin protection). If you have financial difficulties please talk to the coach or President about borrowing team gear. All club members will be allowed to borrow the club gear. Everyone must buy a mouth guard.

For those who would like to purchase their own chest protectors and paddles, , we usually put in an order at the beginning of the semester.
